JOB SUMMARY: The primary role of the Electrical Controls Technician is to work as a leader on the maintenance team to support company objectives with respect to maintaining and enhancing equipment. Responsibilities include install, setup, repair and maintaining equipment including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, measuring and calibrating equipment along with performing preventative maintenance duties. The role requires a person with leadership abilities and strong mechanical, electrical & PLC troubleshooting skills. Must be able to work with internal and external customers and work as part of the maintenance team, while demonstrating the ability to work independently. Completes all tasks while strictly adhering to all required industry guidelines to include and not limit to; Plant Safety, Food Safety, SQF and all internal/external audits.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

55 % Performs Preventive and Planned maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment including but not limited to; cleaning, inspecting, setup, diagnosing, rebuilding, replacement, and testing.

· Works closely with the Maintenance & Engineering Director and Operations Supervisors on projects and continuous improvements as needed.

· Leads the efforts associated with plant shut-down maintenance work.

25% Leads in the diagnoses of mechanical and electrical malfunctions in machinery and equipment this includes troubleshooting PLC/Control Systems & VFDs.

· Works within the maintenance team to accurately communicate and document events so that others have the most effective information to solve problems.

· Identifies and reports the need for repairs to Maintenance Management.

10% Effectively communicates with Operations Supervisor and other departments in a professional manner regarding the production schedule and any equipment issues.

· Enhances the knowledge and skills of others in mechanical and electrical systems through on-the-job training with other team members. In addition, teach others in the use of shop equipment or programs needed to perform daily functions.

· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications & establishing personal networks.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

· High School Diploma or GED required.

· 3-5 year's experience or AAS Electrical Tech / Apprentice.

· Basic computer literacy as evidenced by the ability to go online and conduct basic searches on the Internet, check email, create and send attachments and use basic email features.

· Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions.

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

· Experience working with manufacturing equipment including 3 phase motors, control wiring, 24VDC, 120VAC, 208/220VAC, 480VAC.

· Experience with Temperature Controls, I/P Loops, and Low Voltage Sensors.

· Experience with Controls for Conveyor Systems, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Pumps and Valves.

· Knowledge of and ability to comprehend and troubleshoot production machinery.

· Familiarity with Lock-Out Tag-Out Authorized, Hot Work and Confined Space preferred.

· Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.

· Ability to use a variety of measuring tools and test equipment.

· Team oriented individual with the ability to work independently as needed with limited supervision.

· Requires mechanical aptitude.

· Knowledge of Drill Press, Chop Saw, Port-a-Band, Sawzall and other maintenance tools preferred.

· Knowledge or experience with multi-meters and other testing devices.

· Understanding of software pertaining to PLC Programming, Level Sensor Configuration, HMI Configuration, Transmitter Setup, and Drive Software.

· Background troubleshooting PLC/Control Systems preferred.

· Must be decisive and have the ability to effectively make decisions based on a wide variety of clearly defined procedures and standard practices.

· Positive attitude with strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and team-oriented skills are essential.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK CONDITIONS:

· While performing the duties of this position, the Lead Mechanic is regularly required to, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, sit, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, use fingers, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.

· The physical requirements of this position call for the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

· Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed/required.

· The temperature in the work area varies.

· The environment and work areas can be wet, slippery with continuous forklift traffic.

· Frequent use of hot/cold water to perform checks and clean equipment and areas.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
