Counsels and assesses the needs of clients and their families who are experiencing complex socio-economic problems or severe family dysfunction
Assists clients in developing a social service plan to achieve their goals and objectives
Coordinates referrals, services and activities with social service providersUNDER ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISION
GENERAL
Assesses the needs of clients to determine and develop goals, objectives, and social service plans
Identifies indicators of progress and barriers to achieving family self-sufficiency and family stability
Counsels client's experiencing multiple or complex socio-economic problems, exhibiting severe family dysfunction, or threat of loss of government assistance or housing
Coordinates referrals, services and activities with public schools, community ministries, government agencies, court system, and other social service providers
Monitors and documents the progress of client's achievement of social service plans
Bachelor's degree
Social Work
WORK EXPERIENCE
Two years of social work experience
EQUIVALENCY
Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, and three years of social work experience
OR
Bachelor's degree, and four years of social work experience
Additional education in Social Work, Sociology or Psychology may be substituted for experience
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
GENERAL
Must provide one's own source of transportation
CORRECTIONS
Must not be convicted of a felony
Misdemeanor convictions will be considered on an individual basis
Must submit to a pre-employment drug screening
Must submit to a pre-employment polygraph test
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants and employees in positions which perform job duties that may require contact with offenders in the custody or supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice or with youth in the care, custody or supervision of Youth Development
must meet qualifications pursuant to the federal Prison Rape Elimination Act, 28 CFR 115.17 and 115.317, to include periodic post-employment criminal background checks
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
