Louisville Metro Government is Hiring an Information Process Technician I Near Louisville, KY

Description

The purpose of this position is to greet the public, answer questions and direct callers or visitors to sources of assistance. Enter and verify data, create reports, create, maintains and updates computer based records.

Examples of Duties

  • Answers phone calls, provides information, takes messages, and routes calls.
  • Enters, codes, stores, edits and retrieves database records and files.
  • Composes letters and memos and types or word processes letters, memorandums, reports or other documents.
  • Sorts and distributes mail.
  • Develops procedures for translating information into accurate formats and fields.
  • Creates and prepares lists for tracking targeted data.
  • Prepares and maintains various logs, records and reports.
  • Receives cash, check or credit card payments.
  • Verifies database records.
  • Reviews data entered into the database for accuracy and completeness and corrects errors.
  • Assists sworn personnel with locating, transferring and merging data.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
  • Eighteen (18) months of clerical experience, nine of which must have been in computerized record-keeping procedures.
Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Other Minimum Requirements
  • Must be of good moral character, with no criminal or felony record inconsistent with the provisions of this paragraph. Unacceptable will be persons who have been convicted of a felony, or who have any criminal action pending against them.
  • An applicant may be disqualified for multiple misdemeanors, an unacceptable criminal record, or multiple traffic violations.
  • Applicants who have bought, sold, or used marijuana within one year of application, or have bought, sold, or used any controlled substance or narcotic drug without a prescription within six years of application will be disqualified.
  • Must submit to a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must submit to a pre-employment polygraph test.
  • Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check.
Please note: This position requires an in-person Clerical Exam as part of the selection process. After the application closes, applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be sent more information about the Exam. The Exam will be offered on Thursday, May 30, at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Physical Demands
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
