POSITION DETAILS

Job Title: Manager, Health Services Research 

Salary: $60,000 – 70,000

  • Salary is based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related rationale.

Work Schedule: 40-hour work week

  • LPHI offers traditional (M-F, 8 am-5 pm), flexible (for example, M-F 10 am-7pm), and compressed work schedules (for example, M-Th 8 am-7 pm). Schedule details finalized between employee and supervisor. 

Location: This is a Louisiana-based position

  • LPHI maintains an office in New Orleans if the employee prefers to be hybrid or full-time in-office
  • Employee must reside in Louisiana during the time of employment

Team: Health Services Research (HSR)

Reports To: Associate Director, HSR

Primary Relationships: The manager will primarily work with the HSR Associate Director, the REACHnet Dual Principal Investigators, and another HSR Manager but will also work collaboratively with the full HSR team and team members across LPHI, including team members from finance, contracts, communications, and other areas represented across the organization.

ABOUT THE POSITION

LPHI’s Health Services Research (HSR) portfolio works in partnership with health systems, academic research institutions, health insurance organizations, and community stakeholders to operate the Research Action for Health Network (REACHnet), one of eight clinical research networks (CRNs) nationwide in PCORnet. REACHnet is composed of partner health systems in Louisiana, Texas, and California. The REACHnet Coordinating Center at LPHI maintains and operates a data infrastructure for these health systems which includes clinical records for more than 8 million unique patients standardized to a common data model. REACHnet enables the conduct of patient-engaged, multi-site research with enhanced efficiency in real-world healthcare delivery systems. The HSR portfolio implements numerous multi-site research initiatives with local and national partners, including interventional trials, observational studies, and community engagement projects.

The manager will be responsible for the successful planning and implementation of multiple research projects in the HSR portfolio in collaboration with various local and national partners. They will develop project plans, budgets, timelines, and deliverables and be responsible for project implementation and reporting. This position will coordinate and monitor activities of internal teams, external contractors, and engaged partners for assigned projects. The position will also support REACHnet’s data services for academic and industry research partners, which involves reviewing requests, initiating start up activities (i.e. contracting, data sharing and use agreements, and IRB approval), tracking study status and dissemination, and monitoring co-investigator engagement and compliance with REACHnet policies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management, Planning, and Implementation

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while effectively working with internal staff and external partners.
  • Develop project plans, manage timelines, and ensure high quality deliverables.
  • Track projects’ activities and progress and fulfill reporting requirements for project milestones to partners and/or funders.
  • Support budgeting, contracting, legal, regulatory/IRB, and other administrative processes for research projects.
  • Engage project team members and partners; assist in facilitating strategic planning and decision-making. 
  • Perform operational and administrative functions including scheduling and facilitating meetings (including meetings on virtual platforms), developing agendas, taking meeting notes, and post-meeting follow up.

HSR Portfolio Management Support

  • Provide cross-cutting operations and administrative support for the HSR portfolio, including planning team meetings, assisting with convenings, updating tracking, maintaining files, and compiling reports.
  • Provide customer service to existing clients and external partners seeking REACHnet services for research projects.
  • Support proposal and business development activities, including but not limited to drafting letters of support, compiling supporting materials, drafting budgets, populating templates, and reviewing drafts.
  • Draft and/or review informational documents, presentations and other communication materials for dissemination to partners and stakeholders.
  • Assist with maintaining up-to-date information on the REACHnet website and support communications needs related to HSR portfolio work, including developing social media posts and website content.
  • Work with team members to identify and facilitate documentation and sharing of lessons learned, best practices, and tools.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support organization-wide efforts to advance strategic priorities
  • Attend and actively participate in team and LPHI-wide meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

ABOUT YOU

Position Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social sciences, public health, or related field or equivalent (3 years) experience 
  • 3 years of experience in program coordination and/or project management 
  • Experience developing project plans, managing timelines, and successfully implementing projects
  • Experience developing and managing project budgets
  • Experience preparing and compiling required proposal materials/documentation (e.g. budget justification, facilities and resources, investigator biosketches, letters of support, etc)
  • Experience working with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds.
  • Working knowledge of the research process, including study designs, data collection approaches, and methods
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong commitment to LPHI’s mission and values

  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with colleagues and partners.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence skills, including strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with experience working with community stakeholders, health systems, and/or academic institutions.

  • Ability to employ a highly detail-oriented approach while maintaining an appreciation for the long-term goals and objectives of projects.
  • Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to manage fluctuations in workload, prioritize tasks, and consistently meet deadlines with high quality deliverables.
  • Understanding of the broader context of clinical research, with a particular focus on research directly integrated in clinical settings.
  • Familiarity with concepts related to human subjects research and IRB reliance processes.
  • Demonstrated learning orientation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as virtual meeting platforms, such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
