GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES :

Responsible for answering incoming scheduling calls for Louisiana Orthopaedic Specialists. This position schedules and reschedules new and established patient appointments with appropriate providers.

Acquires medical records, referrals, and authorizations based on physician protocol and the needs of the patient's insurance.

Routes non-scheduling related calls to the proper place. Processes incoming referrals in a timely and accurate manner. Distributes incoming clinical faxes to the proper place.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

2. Accurately obtain all required demographics and insurance information from the patient.

3. Utilizes templates, scheduling assistant, protocol, and physician rotation to schedule patient appointments.

4. Process incoming referrals, contact patients to verify information and schedule appointment, import referrals and / or records into patents chart, send correspondence to referring provider, and send new patient paperwork to patient all in a timely and accurate manner.

5. Responsible for maintaining a secure and accurate cash drawer. Responsible for daily balancing of cash drawer.

6. Maintains strictest patient confidentiality.

The job holder must demonstrate current competencies for job position including a general understanding of insurance requirements.

EDUCATION :

High school diploma or GED.

REQUIREMENTS :

1. Requires knowledge of insurance rules and regulations, medical terminology, and computer scheduling systems.

Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers.
