Medical Assistant Essential Duties:
- Obtaining and recording patient medical histories, vitals, test results, and other information for medical records
- Maintain accurate and strict confidentiality of patient information in electronic and/or manual systems as established by the appropriate protocols, regulations, and policies.
- Providing instructions and directions to patients regarding diagnostic tests, procedures and treatments
- Preparing exam rooms for clinical examinations and assisting practitioners with patient care
- Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
- Answering telephones and returning messages
- Scheduling appointments and procedures
- Verifying patient insurance benefits and obtaining prior authorizations when necessary
- Coding of clinical and surgical charges
- Other administrative duties as assigned
- 1 year of Medical Assisting experience helpful
- Medical terminology helpful
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to interact with patients and co-workers with a professional, can-do attitude!
