Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence is Hiring a Fatality Records Abstractor Near Baton Rouge, LA

Overview:

We are seeking a part time fatality records abstractor for LCADV which is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The fatality records abstractor is responsible for finding, reviewing, and summarizing court and other records related to domestic violence fatalities in Louisiana. This position works in partnership with the Louisiana Department of Health’s Domestic Abuse Fatality Review (DAFR) Panel and LDH-based abstractors to secure full health, criminal justice, civil court, and other systems’ records related to fatalities under review by the Panel.

This position reports to the LCADV Director of Ally Engagement and Executive Director.

In this role, you will:

Locate, review, and summarize records related to domestic violence fatalities from various sources, including but not limited to courts, service providers, criminal justice entities, and health care providers.

Clearly articulate pertinent case information to support the Fatality Review process.

Complete statistical, programmatic, and grant reports as required.

Implement additional projects as needed.

Qualifications

Experience accessing court records.

Demonstrated proficiency in all Microsoft Office products. Excellent attention to detail.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.

Ability to handle very difficult subject matter.

Demonstrated ability to manage time, evaluate progress, and to adjust tasks/activities to complete work within established time frames.

Ability to work independently with self-discipline and self-motivation. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
