Job Description | Program Director

Overview: Supports the Executive Director in the management of daily operations and programming of LACAC. This position will work to empower CACs across Louisiana to better serve victims and families, increase access to quality training, develop statewide resources, and provide support for CACs to achieve and maintain national accreditation standards.

Essential Activities:

Training and Technical Assistance

  • Identifies statewide needs and executes training and professional development programming for CAC staff and multi-disciplinary team members. Conducts training on topics related to child abuse and CACs.
  • Develops and coordinates statewide inter-disciplinary peer reviews for CACs.
  • Works with the Executive Director to identify and respond to CAC needs for technical assistance, consultation, coordination and support to Children's Advocacy Centers and Multi-Disciplinary Teams.
  • Supports the Executive Director in facilitating productive membership meetings that provide opportunity for networking and statewide discussion around key issues that support the capacity and growth of the local centers.
  • Conducts site visits to CACs to cultivate and sustain relationships, and learn ongoing and emerging needs of each member organization.

Program Support and Development

  • Identifies and develops resources for projects to meet ongoing and emerging training and technical assistance needs for the 10 standards of accreditation. Projects will aim to address gaps and enhance CAC capacity and delivery of victim services - including mental health, medical, forensic interviews, victim support and advocacy, and Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).
  • Assists Executive Director in managing and enhancing relevant governmental and stakeholder relations to increase awareness of CACs, increase availability of resources for CACs, and support local program development.
  • Coordinates statewide efforts to assess and fill gaps in resources and equipment.
  • Assists non-accredited CACs in the successful achievement of the National Children’s Alliance (NCA) Standards of Accreditation. Includes consultation, preparation site visit, and application assistance.
  • Works with the Executive Director to expand assistance to CACs statewide in re-accreditation. Facilitates communication, recommendations, and guidance across the CAC network. Provides individualized support including application assistance and attendance at NCA site visit.

Organizational Activities

  • Works with the Executive Director to develop and manage a process for program monitoring.
  • Assists Executive Director as needed in grant applications, facilitating and evaluating fund-generating activity, and meeting fiscal requirements set forth by the Board of Directors or grantors. Compiles information as needed for submission of grant and progress reports in a timely manner.
  • LACAC internship/volunteer program; directly supervises all interns. May assist in the management and supervision of LACAC program staff.
  • Attends professional development opportunities and training when possible. ○ Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned by the Executive Director.

Travel Requirements:

Reliable transportation is essential as travel is a core function of this position. The individual must be willing to travel throughout the state as well as to national conferences for professional development when possible. LACAC will provide reimbursement for travel expenses in accordance with state and federal travel regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required and a minimum of three years of demonstrated success in a similar position is preferred. An advanced degree is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements:

  • Ability to be innovative and self-motivated.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Aptitude to identify challenges while implementing effective solutions.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and familiar with compliance requirements for federal funding including grant management and program budgeting.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to quickly and thoughtfully respond to program needs as they emerge.

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of and experience working within multidisciplinary team response and child abuse intervention. Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) employment preferred.
  • Experience conducting training on child abuse intervention or related topics.
  • Experience developing and sustaining relationships and participating in meetings with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience working with grant-funded programs.
  • Employment experience within CACs, child welfare, law enforcement, prosecution, healthcare, juvenile justice, mental health or related field.
