Structured as a matrix organization of six geographical regions and ten platforms, Louis Dreyfus Company is active in over 100 countries and employs approximately 17,000 people globally.Job DescriptionOverall Purpose and Objective of PositionThis position will be a technical resource to drive plant operating efficiencies and support plant improvements. This position requires working as a team player needing minimal supervision. This position requires developing an understanding of process design technical fundamentals and LDC Project Management Process, process work process and its interdependencies with other disciplines, demonstrating leadership and delivering expertise to the business.Primary Responsibilities/Essential FunctionsWork with operations to track and improve operational KPIs.For asset improvement projects: Ensures that the project scope is well defined and meets the business needs in a cost-effective manner.Supports the activities of the process improvement with other team members of the plant and coordinates activities with other disciplines.Ensures process design deliverables meet the needs of the plant as intended, on time and within budget.Ensures that the process design is safe, meets LDC’s SHE requirements.Identifies technical problems and appropriately engages plant management, commercial and business development, and technical experts to resolve.Develops/Possesses strong technical knowledge and leverages technical know-how and implements best practice applications by providing technical coaching, consulting and support for others within the plant team, site, and region.Demonstrates leadership skills, interacts with the production team and the business to drive improvement.Coordinates the process engineering activities of the plant and will direct and administer with external contractors/suppliers as required.Participate in Process Safety, 3D Model and Design Reviews such as: PRA/PHA/HAZOP, Control narratives, Cause and Effect documents, and Electrical Area Classification.Coordinate the development of scope of work, heat and material balances, PFDs, P&IDs, process descriptions, equipment list, operations training and procedures.Validate the plants technical and CAPEX budget assumptions as put together by the Business Development team, during the due diligence for the acquisition of an asset or during the evaluation of a project before its validation by the Resource Committee, within the company’s standards.Review the company deliverables and makes sure that conceptual design, front end engineering and detailed engineering studies including the projects criteria are achievable in the set forth timeline.Additional ResponsibilitiesServe as one of the primary interfaces for engineering on technical issues with operations.Problem solving and troubleshooting as requested by the plant, when requested.Conducts feasibility studies for processing, refining, grain, milling and biofuels facilities.Works with the Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) staff to assure regulatory certifications and compliance on capital and process improvements, normal operating practices regarding SHE.Reviews plant operations for potential process/procedural improvements for higher throughput and/or cost savings.Maintains good working knowledge of SHE policies, rules and procedures applicable to area of responsibility and ensures all applicable requirements are adhered to.Ensures employees are provided required training for area assigned, and jobs and tasks prior to assigning work.Ensures area of responsibility is maintained in orderly and safe manner.Ensures unsafe working conditions are remedied as soon as practicable.Follows construction completion criteria and construction requirements with the Maintenance Manager.Assists in the project start-up with local management.Additional projects and duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation/Professional Certifications/LicensesBasic qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Chemical or AgriculturalPreferred qualification: Professional Engineer (P.Eng)ExperienceRequired qualification: Minimum of 2 years of relevant process engineering design experience.Preferred qualification: Experience and direct involvement in the construction and start-up of plant improvement projects.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)Knowledge of applicable government regulations and personnel policies to ensure compliance and accomplish the safe and timely completion of capital projects and/or process changes.Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding safety, health and environmental management to ensure compliance and accomplish the safe and timely completion of capital projects and/or process changes.Familiarity with the basics of plant processing, oils recovery, grain and milling operations or biofuels is desired.Proficiency with applicable computer software packages including AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.Knowledgeable with applicable software packages such as Wonderware, RSLogix, and PowerLogic.Exposure to plant operations, maintenance and safety.Knowledge of design codes and governmental regulations affecting the industry including but not limited to NFPA 36, OSHA and EPA standards and requirements.Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and interest with strong problem-solving skills.Excellent organizational and planning capabilities with the ability to handle multiple assignments at the same time.Strong verbal and written communications skills.Ability to work as a team member in a team environment.Strong quantitative and analytical skills.High sense of urgency.Financial analysis skills.Procurement/ contract negotiations skills.PHA/HAZOP implementation.Tolerance for ambiguity.Comfortable working with individuals at all organizational levels.Ability to climb stairs.Additional InformationCompany Conformance StatementsIn the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to conform to the following:Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.Interact professionally with co-workers, Company business associates and the public.Work together in a cooperative spirit to serve the best interests of the Company.Operate in a fully responsible manner and comply with the law and Company policy.Equipment UsedTypical office equipment: PC, telephone, fax machine.Working ConditionsWork is performed in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and multiple priorities, primarily conducted in a climate-controlled office environment. Anticipate regular exposure to gases, vapors, dust and odors, and occasional exposure to areas with wet floors and high volume of noise during plant visits. Some stair climbing is required.
