We are interested in hiring an individual for our Garden Associate position. This is a Part-Time/Seasonal position, with the possibility of becoming year-round.

This position is responsible for maintaining the Garden Center and all products inside and out. This will include hard goods, live goods merchandise (lots of watering), customer experience, selling, performing assigned tasks, all while providing legendary customer service.

As a Garden Center Specialist, you must be able to fulfill all the following requirements:

• Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the Greenhouse.
• Greeting customers, determining what the customer needs, and recommending products.
• Properly care for Live Goods including maintenance/inventory of plants, watering, and disposing of expired products while following all standard operating procedures.
• Responsible for all Garden Center sales, operating cash register and use the point of sale checkout system (Square).
• Work scheduled shifts - days and weekends (required) as dictated by business needs.
• Garden Center Price Changes/markdowns, signage, presentation.
• Communicate proactively and regularly with owner on work completion, issues, and offer solutions to overcome them in the future.
• Must be able to lift/move plants/merchandise up to 20 pounds.
• Educating yourself on the plants being sold at the Garden Center.
• Team Members also may be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Experience: A passion for gardening and being outside is required. Prior horticulture, nursery, or greenhouse experience is preferred, but not necessary. A strong desire and ability to share knowledge and passion of plants/plantcare to our customers generating solutions to drive store sales is preferred.
• Prior retail and/or merchandising experience is preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required. Regardless of education level, Garden Center Specialists must be able to read, write and count accurately.

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.
• Must be self-directed and have the ability to complete assignments with little to no assistance.

Pay: $12.00 - $16.00 per hour
