Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Compensation: $18.00-$21.11 per hour, plus $1.75 per hour Shift Differential Premium for hours worked between 6pm-6am
Schedule: Saturday and Sunday 11:00am-7:30pm
Status: 40%, Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Union
Probation: 90 days

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Facilities Department is a team of over 80 employees responsible for the safety, security, maintenance, and cleanliness of the Centers’ ten locations throughout the Los Angeles area. These facilities cover a wide variety of uses including medical facilities, residential facilities, community rooms, theatres, offices, industrial kitchens, and a coffee shop. The Facilities Department is a great team with hardworking people who enjoy maintaining a wonderful atmosphere for clients and staff who are looking for a community to belong to.
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for routine janitorial work the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Perform all daily routine janitorial work, including; removal/transport of trash from offices, exam rooms, meeting rooms, etc., mop, vacuum, dust and clean glass as needed; restock bathroom supplies; police parking lot and sidewalk for trash; buffing floors.
•Assure that planters, parking lots and all exterior perimeter areas are free of trash.
•Set up/tear down meeting rooms for conferences as needed.
•Preparation of supply checklist for ordering of supplies; take inventory of supplies.
•Follow and perform your Maintenance Cleaning Schedule which is assigned daily (schedules may change based on the number of staff on duty and specific location).
•Responsible for reporting any hazardous condition(s) to management as well as any system malfunction (i.e. plumbing, electrical problems, etc.).
•Responsible for attending meetings as assigned.
•Participate in special events and other departmental and agency activities as requested.
•Attend trainings required and relevant to the position.
•Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
•Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people.
•A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.
•Minimum 1 year of experience working in office setting and medical facility.
•Demonstrated ability to work successfully with minimal supervision.
•Must be able to communicate and understand the English language.
•Access to reliable transportation and the ability to be insured.
•Available to work at all three locations (The McDonald Wright Building, The Village, and Anita May Rosenstein Campus) to relieve staff during approved vacation, personal leave and call outs.
•Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
