Position: Chiropractor #715010

Program: Medicine

Department: Health Services

Reports to: Chiropractor Manager

Compensation: $47.36-$67.10 per hour, plus $1.50 per hour Shift Differential Premium for hours worked between 6pm-6am

Status: 40%, Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Union

Probation: 90 days

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Department of Health Services is one of the nation’s largest and most experienced providers of LGBTQ-specialized primary care and related services, Our mission to help LGBTQ people lead healthier, happier lives is supported by our comprehensive array of client-centered services including primary care, mental health, psychiatry, sexual health, pharmacy, case management, nutrition, clinical research, housing services and a food pantry. The Center is one of a handful of Federally Qualified Health Centers in the nation specializing in serving LGBTQ people.

JOB SUMMARY: In this role, the Chiropractor will provide outpatient primary care-embedded chiropractic care to existing Center clients through in-house referrals. The Chiropractor will perform office-based treatments consistent with existing guidelines and evidence-based practices, and in compliance with payor requirements. The Chiropractor must have expertise providing care to people across the gender spectrum and with diverse physical presentations including people living with HIV. The Chiropractor will also provide consultation and education to clinical staff regarding chiropractic care in LGBTQIA patients. The goal of the program is to create lasting change in the health and lives of low-income and underserved LGBTQIA people through provision of high quality, trauma-informed, body-positive chiropractic care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

•Provides high-quality, evidence-based chiropractic care that assesses and treats musculoskeletal conditions.

•Conducts clinical encounters with new and returning patients that includes taking a thorough history, conducting a musculoskeletal examination, performing chiropractic exercises and adjustments, and documenting an assessment and follow-up plan in the electronic health record.

•Communicates regularly with primary care providers regarding patient outcomes and recommendations for management of musculoskeletal conditions.

•Utilizing the clinic’s electronic health record, maintains detailed clinical notes, signs encounters within 48 hours, and uses appropriate billing codes.

•Conducts patient communication as needed via phone or patient portal.

•Provides patient education about diagnoses and imaging reports as required.

•Completes patient forms and letters in a timely manner.

•Continually develops and maintains clinical expertise in relevant fields of clinical care.

•Participates in peer review exercises and completes mandatory clinical trainings. 

•Assures a positive patient experience and clinical care.

•Participates in routine meetings with supervisor.

•Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

•Experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people.

•A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.

•Doctor of Chiropractic degree from an accredited institution.

•Unrestricted License to practice Chiropractic in the State of California.

•Eligibility for malpractice coverage.

•Current CPR certification.

•Demonstrated expertise and passion for working with underserved and medically mistrustful patients.

•Knowledge and understanding of the intersectional issues affecting LGBTQIA people with demonstrated expertise and passion for working with Black and Latinx people.

•Bilingual skills, a plus (English/Spanish fluency preferred).

•Good verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail, interpersonal and relationship building skills.

•Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
