The Lead House Supervisor supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shift.

Determines staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity, and work/patient flow.

Provides direct patient care as needed.

Floats between staff to assist with problem-solving.

May take patient assignments to meet staffing needs.

Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and related services, and manages through established channels.

Performs role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers.

Ensures staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care.

Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.

The Lead House Supervisor manages the House Supervisor schedule and ensures all shifts are covered.

Ensures staff are appropriately oriented and trained to the House Supervisor position.

Models appropriate behavior and communications with staff, physicians, other members of the leadership team, as consistent with the LifePoint values.

Minimum education

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:

BLS and ACLS current upon hire.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)/ENPC obtained within six (6) months of hire or transfer into position.

New hires will have ninety (90) days from date of hire to obtain American Heart Association certifications. Notwithstanding this ‘grace period’ for obtaining American Heart Association certifications, employees are not excused from being current in any and all existing certifications that are required for their position as outlined in the position job description.

Licenses: Current NM RN licensure or appropriate RN compact licensure.
