We are currently seeking experienced and motivated candidates for the role of Simulation Integration Engineer to support EV Thermal group. This role is part of a group responsible for creating virtual environments to enable verification, and validation of system level models for electrified powertrain, Battery thermal system and Cabin climate control system.

The Simulation Integration Engineer is responsible for leading the move to virtual engineering by leading the integration of full-vehicle cross-functional co-simulation packages that are used for all aspects of vehicle development. This position involves high level of collaboration with teams throughout LMC including Vehicle Integration, Powertrain, Thermal, Battery and Embedded Controls, Calibration, Vehicle Performance, Validation, and Hardware Development. This position requires an individual with a passion for virtualization, an adept knowledge of hardware and software integrated systems, and a demonstrated capability to manage a wide variety of technical and customer needs. He or she will work as a Thermal Simulation Integration Engineer between System Engineering, Embedded controls Engineers and internal development teams, to integrate and deliver simulation environments on time and with quality. A balance of technical and project leadership skills and the ability to think outside the box to find simple yet exciting solutions is paramount.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify requirements, schedule, and deploy simulation projects to enable virtual vehicle design, development, and validation.
  • Perform simulation correlation activities based on experimental data.
  • Create, maintain, and improve standard simulation architectures.
  • Provide support for released simulations, including detailed documentation, and assist users with testing and troubleshooting.
  • Design, develop, verify, and execute automated test suites.
  • Assist initiatives to benchmark and adopt next-generation simulation technology and tools.
  • Identify, implement, and standardize new simulation development processes of engineering.
  • Provide process and architecture feedback improvements.

Requirements

  • BS Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Adept experience with GT-Suite, MATLAB, and Simulink in context of plant model development and integration and basic usage of additional simulation tools
  • Familiarity of additional simulation tools (e.g., Start CCM, CarSim, Amesim, etc.)
  • Familiarity with automotive communication technologies such as CAN, LIN, and SPI.
  • Familiarity in computer programming languages including C/C .
  • Comfortable with leading large and/or difficult projects with high levels of ambiguity.
  • Comprehensive vehicle propulsion system-level knowledge.
  • Proven ability to work in teams, balancing technical theory with practical limitations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • MS Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering preferred 
  • 5 years of relevant experience.
  • 1D system level modelling in Amesim/GT-suite for battery pack, Powertrain, and Cabin climate control thermal system to predict thermal performance of the pack, powertrain, and cabin to validate against test data and troubleshoot heating/cooling for different operating conditions. 
  • Model analyses impact of ambient temperature, drive cycles, operating conditions of pump, ac compressor, heater, and battery parameters such as SOC, voltage, current etc.,
  • Familiarity with multibody and/or controls integration CAE tools such as GT Suite, Amesim, Star CCM, Carsim, MATLAB/Simulink or other similar CAE tools.
