Lorain County Community Action Agency is Hiring a Site Administrator Near Lorain, OH

Purpose:

The Site Administrator provides and coordinates the necessary support, resources, supervision, monitoring, and leadership to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for preschoolers. In accordance with the goals of the agency, sets the tone for the site, follows policies and procedures, assists with the implementation of the curriculum, oversees the site, manages, and trains staff and is responsible for the overall image of the site. Site administrator must abide by following strict compliance with the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services Childcare licensing, Step Up to Quality, USDA and Head Start performance standards or other mandates.

Summary of work activities, tasks and responsibilities:

  • Abides by applicable Agency rules and regulations.
  • Ensures and facilitates the smooth functioning of all aspects of the site to best serve staff, children, and families.
  • Ensures compliance and assists by conducting goals, policies and activities designed to meet ODJFS Childcare Licensing, Step Up to Quality, USDA, and Head Start Performance Standards or other mandates.
  • Provides supervision, leadership, and support to all site staff.
  • Conducts ongoing informal and formal performance evaluations of site staff.
  • Assists in the recruitment of hiring and orientating all new staff to the site, within agency-approved processes and policies.
  • Coordinates staff scheduling within approved teacher-child ratios.
  • Consults, supports, and provides guidance to teaching staff in evaluating and revising children’s programming as required using a variety of tools (Ex. CLASS, Teacher Observation, etc.).
  • Ensure appropriate professional development opportunities are made available to teaching staff, within agency budget parameters and in accordance with identified training needs of staff on the creation of their professional development plan.
  • Market the site to prospective client-parents, within agency standards.
  • In collaboration with the teaching team, facilitate the placement, orientation, and evaluation of children on placement at the site.
  • Represents the agency by participating on committees or attending meetings in the childcare community.
  • Is an active, contributing member of the agency’s Management and Education & Disabilities Team, by providing input at meetings and sharing informing affecting the agency.
  • Communicates key messages on decisions made by the Management, Education & Disabilities, Family, Community, and Health team to site staff on an on-going basis.
  • Coordinate monthly staff meetings to share information, facilitate team building activities, or discuss program planning.
  • Makes recommendations regarding personnel actions for staff in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.
  • Plans and assists education staff in implementing parent engagement activities in the education service area, both in the classroom and at home.
  • Routinely inspects center facilities for health, safety, fire and occupancy compliance and takes necessary corrective actions.
  • Provides monitoring of all Head Start programmatic functions and takes responsibility for all improvement plans in this area.
  • Recruits, screens, assigns, trains, evaluates, and supports classroom volunteers.
  • Assists in implementing a plan and system of monitoring and evaluation of educational activities and staff to ensure compliance.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining connections with public schools and other service providers as it relates to transitions, disabilities, etc.
  • Assists in ensuring staff and program resources reflect the multicultural diversity of the children in the program.
  • Assists in completing monthly and/or quarterly reports and data when requested specific to the site.
  • Orders and prepares annual assessment of classroom and site equipment/material needs.
  • Confers regularly with teaching staff regarding child behaviors and assists in the development of behavior plans.
  • Identifies, reports, and provides supportive services in child abuse cases working in conjunction with Family, Health, Community, and Education Specialists.
  • Obtains CLASS certification and assists with monitoring of classrooms.
  • Assisting in the monitoring of classroom environments, curriculum, screenings, assessments, home visits and conferences.
  • Maintains close working relationships with members of the management team.
  • Other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor.
