Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee a slate of advancement initiatives to engage affinity-based audiences
    • Complete tasks such as scheduling, managing volunteers, and/or coordinating travel
    • Initiatives may include but not limited to: Reunion giving program, engaging those alumni who are approaching their 50th reunion; Class walkway program, engaging students in creating a culture of philanthropy on campus by activating their class representatives; Strategic projects as assigned by the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and/or her deputies
  • Serve on the Love Your Longwood Day and Longwood United (crowdfunding) planning teams
    • Handle communications, marketing, social media, and digital ads portions of the project with input from the Director of Annual Giving
  • Plan, set up, and moderate all Institutional Advancement virtual events
    • Includes brainstorming new event topics, contacting campus partners to gather buy-in, setting up the virtual event link and registration, developing virtual event marketing, and publicly moderating all events via Zoom
  • Manage the Donor Experience program
    • Lead the charge to streamline the process and procedures for donor on-campus visits; tasks include meeting one-on-one with the requesting team members, reserving spaces on campus, arranging transportation, scheduling dining with local eateries, and contacting campus partners to schedule one-on-one meetings, campus tours, or special engagement opportunities
  • Annual Giving Officer
    • Holds a portfolio of annual giving donors in an effort to increase annual giving pipeline

Requirements:

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Master's Degree preferred; Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of work experience and/or training required
  • Experience in fundraising or relevant field
  • Experience in alumni relations/engagement and/or development, preferably in higher education
  • Understanding of the needs and interests of constituents in order to develop relationships between them and the University
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas and multiple competing priorities
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Solid relationship-building skills
  • Strong problem-solving, research, and analytical skills
  • Appreciation and respect for interfacing with multiple diverse and different audiences, including faculty, staff, university leadership, volunteers, donors, and alumni; sometimes simultaneously
  • Must have an extreme and honed attention to detail
  • Must be able to initiate, analyze, monitor, evaluate, and advance strategic advancement plans
  • Frequent travel around the region and Commonwealth, weekend, and evening work required
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Personal belief in the mission, goals, and objectives of higher education, with a steadfast belief in Longwood's mission and vision
  • Demonstrated integrity, sophistication, and perseverance
  • Self-motivated and self-starting
  • Highly energetic, creative, strategic, and respectful with a positive attitude
  • Flexibility

Additional Information:

This position is a full-time, administrative & professional faculty, exempt position. A successful fingerprint criminal background investigation is required. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
