Social Studies Teacher Job Description:

Job Summary:
The Social Studies Teacher will be responsible for developing in each student an interest in social
studies. He or she will also possess the ability to work with multiple levels of aptitude in each
classroom. The candidate must demonstrate a high proficiency in various levels of high school social
studies curriculum. Instruction in social studies includes content vocabulary, real-world application,
and knowledge of the school’s three teaching ideologies.
Job Description:
? Responsible for creating standards based lesson plans for all classes, while being innovative
in these lessons, incorporating arts into the academic lessons
? High level of understanding on how to use technology in the classroom; Longleaf is a 1:1
school
? Work collaboratively with members in the department as well as across curriculums
? Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students
with varying intellectual abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities
? Knowledge of classroom management strategies
Minimum Requirements:
? Bachelors or Masters degree
? NC Teacher License in Secondary Social Studies is required
