POSITION DESCRIPTION
This support is in the form of support for Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility Design Engineering. Structural Analyst to provide technical services in structural design identifying & resolving technical issues of varying complexity related to design operations. Provides technical support services to Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) in the area of structural design. Some major areas of work may include the following:
• Provide advanced analysis and design for all types of buildings and structures for normal and accident loading conditions.
• Provide advanced structural analytical capabilities including dynamic seismic analysis (response spectra and time-history), generation of in-structure seismic response spectra, tornado winds and missile penetration and precipitation (rain, flood, snow).
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS- Education: B.S. in an Engineering discipline
- Experience: 15 or more years experience in nuclear or industrial engineering
experience (preferred)
• Demonstrate 8 years recent experience in design and analysis of NRC or DOE regulated nuclear facilities
• Working experience with finite element analysis
• Experience in analysis for structural response to explosion (blast/detonation and deflagration) is preferred.
• Experience with DOE natural phenomena hazard (NPH), Standard 1020, criteria is preferred.
• Possess a working knowledge of STAAD, ANSYS or ABAQUS or similar computer codes.
• Experience applying knowledge of National Codes and Standards; specifically, IBC, AISC (ASD, LRFD, & N690), ACI (318 & 349) and ASCE (4, 7 & 43).
• Able to perform field walk-downs to document as-installed conditions.
• Produce written documents with clearly organized structure and grammar
• Foster a work environment that promotes safety, quality, openness, trust, communication, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.
• Previous SRS experience is preferred.
• Ability to operate Windows Microsoft Office applications
