Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Behavioral Health Assistant (Psych InPatient) Full Time Night 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM Alternating Wkdns.
In this role, the successful candidate Under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse performs technical and para-professional nursing and/or medical care procedures in the delivery of nursing in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the institution.
Job Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a 1. Associates degree in, social services or a health-related area; or A High School diploma or a G.E.D. and one (1) year of full-time experience in nursing or psychiatric/behavioral health in a high volume, intensive care environment.
2. Successful completion of an appropriate training program in the application and use of restraints and seclusion must be completed prior to an individual performing such work (required within 90 days of start date)
3. Successful completion of an appropriate training in the performance of vital signs and grooming, (required within 90 days of start date)
4. Ability to read and write at an elementary school level to understand the patient's plan of care and to record data on the patient's medical record
5. Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations at an elementary school level in order to take and record the patient's weight, vital signs, I & O
6. Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients and their families that demonstrate recognition of cultural diversity
7. Basic analytical skills in order to gather data, complete comparisons, interpret, & report outcomes to the nurse or document on the medical record.
8. Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
9. Must possess excellent customer service skills
Special Note:
As required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Hospital Conditions of Participation - Patients Rights (42 CFR Part 482), before applying restraints, implementing seclusion, performing associated monitoring of the restrained or secluded individual, or providing care for such individual, staff must be trained and able to demonstrate competency in the performance of these actions.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $44,850.00 - $44,850.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
