LONG Building Technologies is Hiring a Controls Technician Intern Near Renton, WA

POSITION PURPOSE 
As a LONG Controls Technician Intern, you will support Controls Technicians by helping with different phases of installation of a building automation system based on project specifications. You will help perform installation, warranty, emergency, and maintenance service on installed systems. Hours are M-F 7am – 3:30pm with possible overtime.
Compensation Range: $22 - $28 per. hr.
Part Time-Full Time, Temporary, No benefits
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.Other duties or tasks may be assigned as required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.The essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Assist with programing databases for all supported systems to meet specified sequences of operation and equipment manufacturers recommendations, in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents
  • Assist with performing calibration and check-out of control systems, and ensures that specified sequence of operations and commissioning obligations are met
  • Assist the graphics coordinator and/or provide the labor and expertise for the preparation and delivery of graphical user interfaces when required for projects in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents
  • Panel fabrication
  • Light programming
  • Travel to job sites
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to do so. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. This includes the following:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 18 years or older
  • Strong analytical skills in solving software and integration challenges.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
  • Some working knowledge of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation and construction procedures.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel to include department managers, project managers, engineers, sales, and controls technicians.
  • Ability to present an end of internship presentation
  • Other duties as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
Enrollment in Building Automation Educational Program or similar field of study strongly preferred

This work may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
