PURPOSE/GENERAL
A sales representative is a direct personal contact between the wholesaler and the retailer.

The job description that follows is designed to provide the employee with an overview of his/her job requirements that will be meaningful to the employee in the performance of his/her duties; however, the job description is not all inclusive. All employees are subject to being assigned additional duties at any time. This job description is also subject to change at any time.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
PERSONAL

  • Report to warehouse to start your day, no later than 7:30am.
  • Gather sales materials and start your route, no later than 8am.
  • Wear the assigned uniform or clothes in properly cleaned and pressed condition.
  • Be well groomed at all times adhering to all company policies regarding appearance.
  • Be courteous and friendly in manner and actions, reflecting credit to the organization.
  • Show loyalty and pride in your product, wholesaler, and our suppliers.
  • Do not drink alcohol while on the job.
  • Do not incur debts with retail accounts.

EQUIPMENT

  • Be responsible for the proper appearance, maintenance and care of equipment. Report all matters, which require the attention of management as needed.
  • Keep LBI company vehicle clean at all times and drive safely. Remember, you are a MOVING BILLBOARD!
  • Drive courteously and carefully at all times. Observe all speed limits and driving regulations.
  • You must have very reliable transportation and maintain the appropriate and necessary insurance to work here.
  • Be responsible for all assigned equipment. If lost, abused, or stolen you are responsible for the company’s cost of replacement.
  • Company Vehicle Abuse Policy: If you have an accident that is your fault, you will be charged (via payroll deduction) the $1000.00 deductible.

RECORDS
Maintain all pertinent account information in our route accounting software. This includes, but is not limited to: inventory maintenance, account details, surveys, product knowledge info, schematics, etc. These records are to include the validation for all applicable NC ABC laws and the possession of NC Wholesaler Permit at all times during work hours.

DUTIES AT CUSTOMER BUSINESS

  • Positions require positive customer service as well as the ability to merchandise coolers, stock shelves, rotate product, build displays, and do continuous lifting and walking.
  • Adhere strictly to account service schedule and route assignments as directed by management.
  • Check company products and POS within each account to ensure proper distribution, position, and merchandise of products.
  • Take complete and total inventory of company products within accounts, as required.
  • While taking inventory, constantly check code dates on products to follow company’s quality assurance policy.
  • In taking orders, build to appropriate inventory, taking into consideration current sales trends for that account. If an account places an order, still take inventory prior to receiving order from retailer, so that you may suggest additional sales as the condition requires, based on past sales or current sales.
  • Always attempt to sell new items, new draft placements, improve tap share and place POS.
  • Remember, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR EQUIPMENT UNIT IN YOUR VEHICLE!
  • Keep open communication with merchandising team and delivery team on any pertinent account level specifics.
  • Names and all pertinent data on new accounts need to be turned into the office immediately.
  • Turn in all assigned work sheets (goals/displays) in a timely manner.
  • Ensure you are following all company procedures on Quality Assurance.
  • Assist in obtaining any/all surveys as directed.
  • Check POS material to ensure it is in its effective area, operational, and clean.
  • Report monthly sales versus goals.
  • Maintain up to date data in handheld/system. The Market Manager, On Premise Manager, or General Sales Manager must approve any deletions and changes other than closed account.

SALES

  • Follow the established procedure for product removal from warehouse.
  • Call on every account on the route on a regularly scheduled basis, THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS!!
  • Continually improve distribution by calling on prospects on a regular basis.
  • Sell the entire line. The ultimate goal is the sale of all packages in each account where there is a chance for consumer sales.
  • Obtain and maintain maximum product placement as well as tap handles at all times. Police all POS always.
  • Inventory all packages and record numbers in handheld.
  • Pre-sell promotions and displays for items coming on display and future ad features/programs.
  • Continually work at improving the visibility of our brands on tap and package brands.
  • Sell each account by checking stock, referring to the handheld, and considering special factors (i.e. holidays, weather, etc.). Ask for and upgrade the order, but follow the rules of good salesmanship. Let the retailer know when the order will be delivered and when you will call again.
  • Place any Point of Sale, permanent and temporary wisely, through knowledge of its purpose, use, and features of each piece. Keep all P.O.S. in proper condition. Continually strive to dominate all of your accounts.
  • Get a signed receipt for all permanent P.O.S. placements.
  • Merchandise our advertising through use of magazine ad copies, radio and television schedules, etc. and be able to discuss these matters intelligently.
  • Cultivate a working relationship with the owners, managers, and staff concerned with the sale of our brands in order to obtain maximum “push” business.
  • Be alert to the activities of the competition (i.e. prices, new packages, or any factor affecting the market) and report information to management immediately.
  • Carry out any special assignments or deliveries given to you by your Market Manager, On Premise Manager, or General Sales Manager.
  • Make special contacts and or night calls as requested.
  • Give extra service to accounts that require special attention due to unusual volume, parties, holidays, overdue shipments of out of stock product, etc.
  • Submit any leads for new draft accounts to the Market Manager or the On Premise Manager.
  • Be familiar with Federal, State, and Local laws as they affect the sale and distribution of beer. Do not violate such laws!
  • Maintain competitive pricing in each account. Report any off pricing to the office so corrections can be made if they cannot be done by you.
  • Attend any/all sales meeting scheduled by management.
  • A job description in its nature cannot address all duties required of a job, therefore you are to follow any instructions from management.
