Position Summary

LBDN is seeking our next great team member to serve as our East Branch Center Director. Since 1912, LBDN has been a proven leader in the nonprofit and early childhood education (ECE) fields. Our mission, to “provide high quality early care and education to young children of working families”, is more critical now than ever, as the need for quality ECE services grow and research continues to prove the impact ECE has on the forward trajectory of young children and their families.

The East Branch Center Director will lead and successfully manage the highest quality early care and education services and programming for the children, families and staff of LBDN. The right person for this position will love working with a diverse team and align with LBDN’s mission, vision and philosophy; maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and standards (NAEYC, Title 22, Title 5, California Food Program, QRIS) and ensure the overall effectiveness and quality of all programs and services throughout Long Beach Day Nursery East Branch.

• Represent LBDN in a positive light to the families we serve as well as the greater Long Beach and ECE Communities.
• Responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of the center including the following: curriculum, food program, California State Preschool Program, Kindergarten Readiness, maintaining NAEYC Accreditation, and compliance with all relevant regulations, policies and procedures (Title 5, Title 22, NAEYC).
• Provide leadership, inspiration, and oversight of the teaching, administrative and kitchen team.
• Spend time in each classroom in order to provide meaningful coaching, mentoring, and modeling, alongside regular staff communication, meetings and evaluations.
• Foster an environment where parent partnerships are an essential part of children's learning: Parent Advisory Council, parent involvement throughout day to day happenings, provide parents with information and resources as needed, and conduct parent meetings and trainings regularly.
• Oversee center wide events: graduation, sunshine days, fall feast, holiday celebrations, etc.
• Support enrollment goals: provide information to interested families, market program at community events, provide tours, and conduct intake interviews.
• Manage staff development: assist with hiring; conduct orientations and training of new staff and support professional development.
• Administration: Maintain and distribute center staff schedule, approve vacation and sick requests following policy consistently. Review and accurately submit employee time sheets. Maintain accurate and organized center records. Generate data and produce reports as needed and for State contract compliance.

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in ECE or related field preferred. Master’s degree in ECE or related field a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in another field with a Site Supervisor Permit will be considered with a proven track record of success in leadership roles and experience in the early childhood field.
• Minimum of five years of supervisory experience.
• Hold or meet requirements for Child Development Site Supervisor permit.
• Meet requirement through child care licensing for infant toddler license directorship.
• Experience in an early childhood classroom.
• Knowledge of basic human resource law
• Ability and willingness to learn is a must.
