Job Summary and Qualifications

As an ER Tech you will be have theprimary responsibility for the open medical record and keeps records orderly and accurate.Responsible for continuous monitoring of the telemetry functions of the department while on shift, making reports at selected intervals of time, assuring that names and other data are entered accurately, and demonstrating ability to recognize problem dysrhythmias and reporting to appropriate nurses and/or physician/s.

In this Role:

• Obtains lab work, x-rays, and etc. results from the computer. Alert physicians and nurses to problems or delays in results.
• Prepares medical records for discharged patients, surgical patients, and patients being transferred.
• Demonstrates competency to perform IV starts, phlebotomy, EKGs, orthopedic skills, all transport duties, and telemetry monitoring.
• Turning over patient rooms-including cleaning and stocking/restocking supplies as needed.
• Recognizes and reports appropriate data to the Registered Nurse.
• Responsible for clerical duties in the clinical area including telephone communications, computer systems, record sorting, filing and distribution. Responds to call lights, patient needs, and observes camera monitors.
• Able to access physicians and staff through the use of call-back lists, paging system, telephone, etc, and accurately document consultation calls and any appropriate notes/ treatments performed in the Epic system.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) must be obtained within 7 days of employment start date

• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification preferred.

• Basic EKG within 6 months of hire.
