Job Summary : The Patient Care Assistant (PCA)-Dialysis Apheresis Resource Team (DART), performs designated direct and indirect, age-specific and developmentally appropriate patient care for inpatients and outpatients under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) that specializes in providing multiple types of dialysis modalities and apheresis treatments and procedures.
Provides services in Loma Linda University Children's Hospital and all hospitals licensed under Loma Linda University Medical Center (University Hospital, East Campus Hospital, Surgical Hospital).
Plays a key role in supporting department productivity goals and timely quality patient care by processing and transporting machines and supply carts to and from treatment and procedure locations within designated timeframes based on patient schedules.
Participates in quality control activities. Collects water specimens for bacteriology, endotoxins, and chemical analysis according to regulatory requirements and manufacture recommendations.
Performs follow-up testing as needed and directed by Supervisor
Dialysis Equipment. Meets qualifications and competencies as defined in the department-specific Plan for Providing Care.
Participates in training, educational activities and staff meetings; assists with the orientation and training of other personnel as requested.
Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience : High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate required. Successful completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or completion of School of Nursing Fundamentals course required.
Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) may be considered in lieu of CNA program or completion of School of Nursing Fundamentals course.
Minimum six months of experience as a nursing assistant or dialysis technician preferred.
Knowledge and Skills : Demonstrates competencies in fundamentals of patient care, cleaning and disinfecting and running of dialysis and apheresis machines and knowledge of scope of practice for unlicensed assistive personnel healthcare providers.

Licensures and Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Hemodialysis Technician preferred.
