The Maintenance Painter will provide Maintenance Painters in support of depot operations. The Maintenance Painter will be assigned to prepare mobile shelters used to house electronic equipment in the field for paint, but may be assigned to other duties given adequate notice from the Government. The Maintenance Painter will sand painted surfaces of shelters using manual and air-powered sanding equipment. The Maintenance Painter will repair damaged and dented surfaces using automotive body filler, repair holes and punctured panels using sheet metal patches and rivets, and replace missing or damaged seals as necessary IAW technical data using authorized replacement parts. The Maintenance Painter will seal all exterior shelter surfaces from weather intrusion using 2-part sealant, prepare interior and exterior shelter surfaces for paint, and perform minor disassembly, inspection, re-assembly, and functional testing tasks for shelter jacks and associated attachment equipment. The Maintenance Painter will apply markings, decals, identification plates, instructional placards, and signs in accordance with technical data specifications and drawings.
