This is a full time position located at the 3 Mile office of MLIH.

POSITION PURPOSE:

This position is necessary to assure the effective and efficient delivery of dental services. The duties of a dental assistant are among the most comprehensive and varied in the dental office. The dental assistant performs many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Work directly alongside the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
• Verify patient's medical history and take blood pressure and pulse.
• Assist with infection control and developing infection control protocols.
• Prepare and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
• Ensure patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment.
• Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures.
• Educate patients on appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health
• Performing office management tasks
• Schedule appointments, answering telephone calls, billing and ordering supplies as needed.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a high school graduate or the equivalent. Must have completed a dental assistant course or must have equivalent on-the-job training. Must have basic computer skills in order to perform data entry and retrieval.
