Description:

Dispatchers of the Logan 911 Communications Division provide public safety communications services to multiple police, fire, and emergency medical agencies within Cache County.

Responsibilities:

A successful candidate will perform emergency and non-emergency communications and dispatch duties including; receiving and prioritizing calls and requests for public safety departments; maintaining accurate status of all units on radio channels; record and relay information for police, fire and medical services; search public safety records for warrants, vehicle registrations, driver licenses, and other information; enter and retrieve information from computer; maintain and operate a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system; operate multiple channel radio system; maintain confidentiality with information obtained through employment; and perform other duties as required to professionally serve the citizens and public safety responders of Cache County.

Knowledge, Skills and Characteristics:

Knowledge of emergency medical services, law enforcement and fire organization operations.

Ability to operate basic computer systems and type efficiently (suggested 40wpm )

Ability to exercise good judgement and logical thought patterns during emergencies and heavy workloads.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing in routine and emergency situations.

Ability to gain control of calls through active listening, remaining calm and showing appropriate objectivity/empathy.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, partner agency members, and the public.

Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must be able to work rotating shifts, including weekends, and holidays. Must be able to multi-task, provide exceptional service during stressful situations and work well in a team environment.

Upon hire candidates must successfully complete the division's Communications Training program and obtain various industry certifications including CPR, Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD), Police Officer Standard Training (POST) Dispatch Certification and others.
