LOGAN Autism Learning Center of Southwest Michigan is Hiring an ABA Behavior Technician Near Saint Joseph, MI

JOB SUMMARY

The Registered Behavior Technician is an employee of Autism Services. The Registered Behavior Technician works directly with individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families implementing instructional and behavioral intervention programs. LOGAN will provide training on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and additional training specific to the ABA program developed for everyone assigned to you in autism services. The Registered Behavior Technician will work under the supervision of a Lead Behavior Technician. If you are in graduate school, seeking BCBA supervision hours, this must be approved by a BCBA, and your supervisor will shift to your BCBA supervisor. Supervision will occur weekly by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

· Implements 1:1 instructional and behavioral intervention programs with all assigned clients following the ABA treatment plan developed by a BCBA.

· Participates in all required training activities including, but not limited to: The fundamental principles of ABA, discrete trial teaching techniques, management of maladaptive behaviors, child development, and data collection techniques applicable to the clients on the Registered Behavior Technician’s caseload.

· Observes and records child’s behavior and progress on goals as indicated by the BCBA.

· Provide assistance during the arrival and departure of clients.

· Accurately completes daily documentation of services provided as required for billing.

· Participates in meetings regarding the client’s ABA program.

· Participates in monthly parent meeting for specific clients when assigned by BCBA or Clinical Director.

· Communicates with supervisory staff on a regular basis.

· Arrives promptly at service location and engages in productive work activity until the end of the assigned shift.

· Respects the wishes of the family as outlined in the Family Services Agreement

· Work with clients in home-based settings when necessary.

· The Registered Behavior Technician is required to be scrupulous in respecting the confidentiality of the client and his/her family

· Maintains a professional relationship with the family at all times, refrains from sharing personal information about self or others. Does not share complaints about employer (LOGAN), redirects family to supervisory personnel when family expresses concern about LOGAN services.

· The Registered Behavior Technician is required to be absolutely scrupulous in respecting the confidentiality of the client and his/her family

· Work as a team member to develop and enhance the services provided by LOGAN. Maintains a cooperative and respectful relationship with all staff and management.

· Provides information to the accounting department needed for billing for services provided with accuracy and within the designated time frame.

· Demonstrates cultural competency in providing consistent high-quality services to individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultural circumstances.

· Responsible for maintaining RBT certification, monitoring supervision hours, and submitting annual recredentialing applications in a timely manner

· Completes training, competency assessment, and passes the Registered Behavior Technician exam within 84 days of hire

· Duties as assigned by Supervisor

· Represent LOGAN in a positive way in the community.

· Serve as an advocate & protect the dignity & human rights of all individuals served.

· Serve clients across various sites/settings in autism services

· Serve as an example for staff in terms of good employee practices, including (but not limited to) excellent attendance and strict adherence to LOGAN policies.

· Ability to sit at child height table

· Ability to kneel, bend, & reach

· Ability to lift at least 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

· Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

· Credentialing as a Registered Behavior Technician is ideal, must be achieved through training and supervision once you start your Registered Behavior Technician position at LOGAN (within 84 days of hire)

· If seeking BCBA supervision, graduate education in process or complete

Experience

· Experience with children with various abilities preferred

· Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder

· Experience with data collection and/or professional report writing

· Experience communicating professionally with families, clients, and therapeutic staff members.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Ability to interact well with individuals with various diagnoses, abilities, and behaviors

· Ability to follow ABA programs as specifically developed by supervising BCBA

· Ability to work well independently

· Ability to work cooperatively as a therapy team member

· Have reliable means of transportation
