Local Bounti is Hiring a Remote Project Engineer

We currently have an opening for a Project Engineer. The pay range for this position will be $100K to $130K DOE.

The Project Engineer is part of a capital projects team that designs, engineers and constructs Local Bounti’s innovative hybrid-controlled environment agriculture (CEA) facilities. These facilities include innovated vertical farming technology, greenhouses, hydroponic systems, and produce harvesting and packaging facilities. This team oversees planning and coordinating technical engineering initiatives to make sure they can complete a project within their budget and according to a schedule. Their duties include implementing and updating Local Bounti standards while managing large engineered equipment specifications, procurement and installation. The project engineer works to plan projects, establish project criteria, coordinate project reviews, and ensure the proper implementation of project elements.

Responsibilities:

  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques
  • Create and maintain appropriate project documentation
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure on time project completion
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, all of which are varied in nature.
  • Communicate regularly with upper management to make sure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule, and that key milestones are met
  • Identify, manage and work to mitigate project risks
  • Coordinate internal and external resources as needed
  • Be able to work well within our collaborative, open, positive, and mission-driven culture
  • Develops project objectives by reviewing equipment and systems proposals and plans and conferring with management.
  • Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
  • Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.
  • Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan, scheduling changes, and recommending actions.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
  • Leads and performs engineering tasks associated with a critical or analytical engineering project or a small number of complex projects that require specialized knowledge in many areas. 
  • Evaluates, develops, implements and leads projects that have significant financial and operational impact. 
  • Participates in department planning, provide budget recommendations and monitor performance for the accomplishment of committed results. 
  • Performs assignments while acting independently and may lead multi-discipline teams. 
  • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory. 
  • Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices. 
  • Advanced time management and analytical skills

  • Manufacturing methods and procedures
  • Documentation skills

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering or other related discipline required
  • 3 years of project experience working in engineering and construction
  • EIT certification preferred
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Experience with large engineering intensive capital project construction preferred
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite of tools, exposure to schedule software.
