Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Department: Laboratory
Summary
The Laboratory Technician will perform tasks in the laboratory related to quality control of product and support of production in the plant. Additional tasks may be required that support the larger organization outside the plant. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for participating in the upkeep and maintenance of equipment and of the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Perform tasks to verify quality of product produced in the plant, including some or all of the following:
  • quality checks of rubber
  • adhesion testing of rubber to metal bonds
  • verifying identity of incoming materials
  • performing wet chemistry testing
  • performing layout on parts and product
Record and report results by:
  • correctly entering data into computer systems
  • generating reports from computer systems
  • communicating results to customers appropriately
  • communicating problems to customers and managers to contain quality issues
Maintain equipment by:
  • following correct operating procedures
  • performing routine maintenance and cleaning
  • troubleshoot problems
  • reporting issues immediately
Support the Laboratory team by:
  • working overtime as needed
  • working to cover vacation and sick time, on shift or off shift
  • training for tasks outside their normal duties
  • cleaning and maintaining the lab routinely
Other projects, as determined based on department needs and technician interests

Associates degree in related field, or equivalent experience

  • Must be able to communicate to all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to solve problems and issues.
  • Must be detailed orientated.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office and Plex desired.
  • Willingness and ability to do hands-on work when required.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
