About the Role:
As the Financial Accounting & Reporting Manager, your role will involve analyzing operational, commercial, strategic, and financial metrics to provide insightful analysis that drives management actions and initiatives, as well as supports the planning process for Loam Bio, LLC.
In this position, you will manage and mentor a direct report within the financial reporting domain, ensuring the quality of outputs including compliance with relevant statutory obligations and the timeliness of filings. Additionally, you will be responsible for performing financial analyses aligned with corporate goals and will serve as a trusted advisor to the supported unit.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the financial accounting function, ensuring timely and accurate recording of transactions in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
Coordinate the year-end audit process, liaising with external auditors and providing all necessary documentation.
Drive process improvements in financial reporting and develop and maintain internal controls.
Manage the general ledger and perform account reconciliations.
Monitor and analyze financial data, identifying trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and manage tax reporting and filing.
Support the financial planning and analysis function by providing accurate and reliable financial data.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic decision-making and provide financial insights.
Provide subject matter expertise to ensure compliance, accuracy and best practices are applied to the USA payroll function, along with ability to run (when needed) payroll.
Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and regulations.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA qualification is preferred.
Experience in financial accounting and reporting, preferably in a lead or managerial role.
Thorough knowledge and use of GAAP and accounting principles.
Working experience using accounting software such as Xero
Experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements and reports.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
Experience with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
High level of integrity and professionalism.
Knowledge of tax regulations and experience in tax reporting and compliance is a plus.
Experience running multi-state payroll or a desire to learn using Loam's system, Gusto.
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
