About the role

Key details:

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 1.30pm, 30 hours per week 
  • Wage: £6.40 per hour
  • Location: Unit 3D Longmead Business Centre, Felstead Road, Epsom, KT19 9QG 
  • Apprenticeship Standard: Level 2 Craft Carpentry & Joinery 
  • Duration: 24 months 

Overview of the role:

Are you passionate about timber manufacturing and eager to kickstart your career in the industry? We are a leading timber and MDF manufacturer and we are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as an apprentice. This opportunity offers hands-on learning in timber production processes and the chance to develop a strong foundation in the field.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare timber for painting, including sanding, cleaning, and priming surfaces.
  • Assist with timber machining processes and moulder machine operations.
  • Learn to identify timber species, understand timber grades, and different timber treatments.
  • Adhere to safety protocols when working with timber, related machinery, and hazardous materials.
  • Gain exposure to quality control measures, machinery maintenance, and production workflow.

Candidate Requirements

Skills & Personal Qualities Required:

  • Passion for timber manufacturing and a strong interest in pursuing a career in the industry.
  • Enthusiasm for hands-on learning and a willingness to develop new skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adhere to safety guidelines for working in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications Required:

  • GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4) essential
  • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4) essential
