LM Manufacturing is Hiring a Materials Superintendent Near Detroit, MI

JOB SUMMARY:

The Materials Superintendent is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Materials department under the guidance of the Materials Manager. The Materials Superintendent will work closely with supervisors to provide guidance in department related issues.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 Direct the warehouse team in their efforts to achieve all departmental performance objectives.

  • Lead the team in continuous improvement efforts to achieve outstanding performance.
  • Work with the Assembly Department and Information Systems Group to improve the utilization of production, control of inventory and shipment of product to the customer on time.
  • Coordinate the utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and employees to meet departmental performance objectives.
  • Train team leaders and team members in developing teamwork skills and team-oriented activities in a positive working environment.
  • Manage warehouse activities through strong leadership, communication, motivation, and direction of employees to ensure product quality and delivery.
  • Track time sheets, attendance records and ensure that all performance reviews are completed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate staffing needs and ensure that all personnel issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Guide departmental continuous improvement activities and participate as requested.
  • Ensure that all accidents are properly reported, and accident investigations are completed within 24 hours.
  • Displays a positive attitude towards safety, works safely and follows all the Company's safety policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards in accordance with company policies, the Occupational Health & Safety Act. and the Michigan Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Ensures all employees and visitors have a safe environment in that safety and housekeeping standards are maintained; and all hazards, unsafe actions, or unsafe conditions have been identified, corrected, and/or eliminated.
  • Responds to and investigates all reports of injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses and property damage immediately.
  • Takes an active part in the division’s safety program by performing regular workplace inspections, effectively investigates accidents/incidents promptly, and assists in meeting or exceeding the division’s safety goals. 
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Authorities as detailed in our Quality System for ISO/TS16949 2009 including but not limited to Corrective and Preventative Actions, Control of Documents, Control of Records, Internal Audits and Control of Nonconforming Product.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification/Licensure:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of equivalent education and work experience.

 Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in high-volume manufacturing environment. Must have knowledge of JIT communication devices, MRP systems, Manufacturing Pull Systems and Value Stream Mapping.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and presentation.
  • Team oriented, communicates well with others, and able to interact with people at all levels and departments. Excellent problem solving and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional team in problem solving activities. 
  • Detail oriented and excellent documentation skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully coordinate and complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines. 
  • knowledge of Word, Excel, and various manufacturing software.
  • Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Work performed in an office and manufacturing plant environments. Normal mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Continuously walks and stands.

Frequently performs fine finger movements, grips/grasps, push/pulls, bends/stoops, and lifts and carries parts up to thirty (30) lbs. Must be available to work any shift as well as weekends and holidays as needed.
