ABOUT LIVEDAYBREAK

LiveDAYBREAK is a not-for-profit organization with a mission of helping Daybreak residents live more fulfilling lives and to continue to make Daybreak the most desirable community in Utah. LiveDAYBREAK is known for extraordinary events and activities such as the Lantern Festival, Fizz Fest Arts Festival, large-scale cultural festivals, and the Ginormous Pumpkin Regatta.

The Communcations Coordinator plays a critical role in making the magic happen at LiveDAYBREAK; they share the details of our events and the impact they have in engaging ways, highlight the good happening in the Daybreak Community, and develop/showcase a variety of skills in order to make LiveDAYBREAK the best it can be.

Our ideal candidate is a communications student looking for experience/an internship OR a communications professional looking for a part-time commitment. Our department is growing - we hope to have our Communications Coordinator with us for at least 18 months in this capacity as we grow and evolve.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Communications Coordinator will work with the Communications Manager in all aspects of publication, correspondence, and brand strategy. Together, they will highlight LiveDAYBREAK's mission and bring attention to events and activities.

The Communications Coordinator will:

  • Assist in creating social media posts and a bi-weekly newsletter
  • Research and write articles and stories
  • Edit/proofread publications
  • Create marketing materials for events/initiatives
  • Assist in maintaining web content
  • Ensure department's message across all channels, including mass texting, social media, newsletters, meetings/socials, podcasts, and other
  • Assist in engaging media stations

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The position will typically be 20 hours a week, but hours will vary based on need. The employee will need to be flexible to support events on evenings and weekends as needed.

  • Assisting with planning and executing communication documents
  • Corresponding with stakeholders
  • Administrative duties found in a typical office setting

Additional duties or job functions may be required as deemed necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Experience working with community groups
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong skills with social media platforms (i.e. Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
  • Communication skills, written and verbal
  • Problem-solving and issue resolution skills
  • Understanding of media relations and digital media strategies
  • Familiarity with design software (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Canva, etc.)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Communications Coordinator would be physically able to perform and assist in various roles and responsibilities as described including:

  • Event set-up and breakdown
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 pounds
  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Work outdoors in the heat and cold

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid driver's license and an excellent driving record
  • Two years of customer service experience
  • Substantial editing and researching skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Strong creative and formal writing skills
  • An eye for graphic design
  • High School Diploma: some college preferred - 1 year experience in a similar setting

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified
  • Certifications in Microsoft Office or Adobe programs

Job Types: Part-time, Internship

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
