THE BASICS | Primary Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities for the Estimator
We are looking for a strong candidate to join our team as an Estimator. As the Estimator, you will be tasked with handling a variety of unique challenges and duties – most importantly, to provide estimating services including slab packages, rebar shop drawings and fabrication, material takeoffs, submittal packages, specification review, and value engineering to ensure the company meets or exceeds sales goals.
- Collaborate closely with the sales team to generate and qualify leads for products and services within Live Oak’s standard product offering.
- Conduct thorough job material takeoffs for quoting prospects, ensuring accuracy and competitive pricing.
- Utilize takeoff software to analyze job plans for specific products and materials required by customers for quoting purposes. Quantify and qualify all products needed on a project that LOCS could supply the customer.
- Complete and submit architect and general contractor prequalification forms.
- Drive the expansion of Live Oak’s presence by growing connections with architects, general contractors, and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of the concrete construction industry.
- Ability to read and understand basic concrete construction plans including Structural, Architectural, and Civil drawings.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively in English, being bi-lingual in Spanish is a benefit!
- Self-motivated with organizational skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle customer inquiries and concerns.
- Proficient with takeoff software, ERP, and CRM software as well as Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, and OneDrive
- Must be an outgoing individual who is comfortable meeting new people and being in unfamiliar situations.
- Skill sets such as active listening, critical thinking, time management, people management, judgement, and decision-making, as well as social awareness, coaching, and teaching are crucial for success.
