Closing Date:
04/23/2022 Responsible for providing individual and/or small group instructional strategies to students with special needs under the supervision of licensed staff in either the general education classroom or those students who attend special education center based programs. Also responsible for making independent decisions within appropriate parameters; implementing team designed behavior support plans; monitoring and supporting students during special activities, suppporting the maintenance of diagnostic files, preparing and modifying instructional materials; collecting data for IEP goals and behavior plans, monitoring and providing feedback on student progress, maintaining student confidentiality and adapting to changes in responsibilities and schedules.
Experience working with students with disabilities preferred; must be a strong team player, with ability to work independently.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION:

• High School diploma
• Associate degree or equivalent advanced training or demonstrated knowledge and ability to assist in instruction of reading, writing, math or in school readiness skills.
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required within 3 months after hire.
• Nationally recognized crisis training prevention required within 3 months of hire.
• Medication administration class required within 3 months of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS FOR THIS POSITION:

• A physical will be required for this position
• The school day consists of direct contact with the students
• May need to push a wheelchair and assist students if they fall
• May need to assist students using the restrooms and change diapers
• Must be able to manipulate 50 lbs. safely
• Physical Demands Factor – Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

6.5 hours per day at Arapahoe High School through the end of the school year.
Starting salary is grade 6 at $18.47 per hour.
