Landscape Crew member
Position Summary
This position is needed to perform landscape services including installations of plant material, mulch and maintenance of existing landscapes.
Your attitude, enthusiasm, discipline and attention to detail are all of utmost importance to meeting our mission of enhancing our client’s properties with our products and services.
Each time we leave a property, the client should WANT to call us to brag about the outstanding team that serviced them on that particular day!
Landscape crew members are sometimes scheduled in the Garden Center and/or nursery areas for maintenance, client service and other activitities.
Competencies
Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
Have a Can-do attitude.
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
A genuine enthusiasm for the job and a willingness to learn new skills.
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
Ability to pick up after yourself as you move through the day and/or as you leave each area.
Must be attentive to detail, flexible, and focused on accomplishing the task at hand.
Ability to lift heavy objects. Stamina to walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in landscaping is helpful. Comprehension of safe use of hand tools like pruners, hand shears, rakes, shovels, and mulch forks. Awareness of safe use of weed eaters, hedge trimmers, chain saws and bed edger.
Level head and ability to keep calm and control actions and verbiage during any interaction with client or another team member in stressful situations.
Ability to keep focused and get along with people.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
Education and Experience
Minimal landscape experience required
Must be familiar with photo capabilities on phone and send to required sources
NYS DEC valid Commercial Pesticide Applicator license is a plus.
Hourly rate dependent upon experience
Physical Requirements
Excellent stamina is required. This job is extremely physical. It is a strenuous physical labor position and requires good body flexibility.
You will need to lift, push, pull and carry objects. Abdominal and lower back muscles are needed to provide support over time without fatigue. The ability to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object is needed. Hand and arm strength is required to pull starter ropes on weed eaters, hedgers and other power equipment.
Ear plugs, safety glasses and heavy-duty shoes are required to be provided by each landscape crew member. Power equipment noise levels can affect hearing over time. Safety glasses help protect eyes from possible harm. Heavy duty shoes help protect feet.
Three uniformed shirts are provided and they are required to be kept clean by the crew member and worn during all paid hours.
We are a seasonal business. Some weekend work required and hours vary depending on time of year, jobs sold and timelines.
