Preschool Support Staff Teachers

Little Wonders Early Learning Center is a new early childhood endeavor (established Aug 2022) committed to caring for the young children of public-school teachers and staff in Nashville. We are looking for educators with a passion for fostering children’s innate wonder, curiosity, and brilliance. Floaters will support teachers in a variety of childcare classrooms working with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. This position is perfect for those who love young children and are eager to develop their practical skills through hands-on time in classrooms.

This is a part-time position working 15-25 hours per week. Hours are flexible. Common floater shifts are from 6:45 – 9:00am; 6:45am – 12:45pm, 10am-1pm, and 3-5:00pm. Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to different Little Wonders sites in Nashville based on staffing needs. This position reports to the Executive Director or Associate Director.

Key Responsibilities

· Alongside the classroom teacher(s), maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing learning environment

· Support children’s social and emotional development and provide positive guidance

· Coordinate and implement educational curriculum based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards, with guidance from the classroom teacher(s).

· Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.

· Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.

· Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous professional growth.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

· Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.

· High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents). Team player who is self-driven.

· An interest in child development and early education.

· Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.

Educational Requirements

· High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Physical Requirements

· Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl and lift up to 40 lbs in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.

· A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.

· Must pass a current physical examination by a physician, including a current tuberculin test

Employment Type & Wages

Part-Time, hourly. Floater salaries begin at $16/hr. Pay is based on education and experience.
