JOB GOAL:
To identify, diagnose and remediate communication disorders which impact a student’s educational progress.
SUMMARY:
The vision of the Dr. Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy is to leverage support from students, staff, families and community stakeholders to provide meaningful and engaging learning experiences to grow and equip leaders who will shape and impact the world in positive ways. Lacey Academy seeks to provide a rigorous, structured academic setting where leaders learn and learners lead. Learners at Lacey will benefit from a rich collection of opportunities designed to equip them with the necessary tools to lead within and beyond the walls of the school so that they are able to positively impact their communities and society.
Success and achievement should be predictable experiences among school stakeholders that can be replicated and extended. This lies at the heart of a culture of wellness. We believe that all students can learn and that they deserve a quality educational experience in a safe environment. Furthermore, we believe in the collective capacity of educators to ensure that every learner is exposed to high-quality learning at or above their present grade level in every classroom, every day. We affirm that learning is required, and success is our standard. Using quality, grade level instruction, coupled with engaging, meaningful, and affirmative educational experiences, we will cultivate and nurture an environment that celebrates the diverse strengths of our learners to build and grow prepared and healthy people so they can achieve success at high levels, both at school and in the community.
With the School Wellness Wheel framework as our foundation, the Dr. Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy will serve as a beacon to stakeholders and an avenue to addressing trauma, promoting wellbeing, and elevating learning for all. This will be done through giving deliberate intention to implementing school-wide systems that embody mastery-based learning opportunities, a growth-based educational approach, and strength-based instruction in every classroom. Learners will engage in high levels of hands-on experiences, real world investigations, and applied literacy and mathematics learning. Students at Lacey will have opportunities to engage in structured science, technology, reading/writing, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STREAM) experiences from kindergarten through eighth grade, building a strong cohort of leaders who possess 21st Century skills for collaborative problem-solving, technological literacy, and career-readiness.
