Little Rock School District is Hiring an Early Childhood Behavior Intervention Specialist -ROMINE EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER (4547) Near Little Rock, AR

JOB GOAL:

To provide prevention, intervention, and support for all students for the prevention and intervention of behaviors that place students at risk and interfere with academic success.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This position is Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract (190 days), plus a benefits package. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based on experience and LRSD’s salary placement guidelines. FLSA: EXEMPT.

TEACHER SALARY SCHEDULE

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university teacher education program.
  • Arkansas teacher’s license appropriate for level and/or subject area assignment.
  • A Board Certified Behavior Analyst as verified through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge and experience in completing Functional Behavior assessments and development of Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Evidence of strong organizational skills.
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Evidence of proficient or distinguished performance on TESS Indicators.
  • Evidence of proficiency in use of hardware, software, and web-based programs.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.
  • Must possess interpersonal skills that excel in cultural sensitivity and respect for differences.
  • Experience with preschool special education teachers working with challenging behaviors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position.
  • Provide professional development on evidence-based behavioral practices.
  • Assist with identification and evaluation of children suspected of having Autism, social-emotional delays, or other disability areas in Early Childhood Special Education,
  • Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary team by conducting classroom and child observations, staff and/or parent interviews and social-emotional assessments to assist staff and programs working with children with behavioral concerns.
  • Consult with staff to assist with Functional Behavior Assessments and the development of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Provide modeling and coaching around the implementation of evidence-based behavioral practices.
  • Establish and maintain effective consultative working relationships with colleagues, administrators, staff, and other consultant groups.
  • Adhere to predetermined timelines, multi-task between projects and respond to work requests based upon priority and complexity.
  • Understand state and federal regulations relative to behavioral requirements and children with disabilities.
  • Maintain accurate records and files.
  • Prepare documents and reports, as needed.
  • Provide training to staff specific to individual child needs.
  • Maintain notes/data on all children identified and/or observed.
  • Monitors progress of identified students.
  • Provide professional development to Early Childhood Special Education and other school personnel, as needed.
  • Assists parents and school staff in understanding the developmental needs of all students, and works with parents and staff in meeting the individual needs of children in the school environment.
  • Provide referral services to appropriate support services and community agencies.
  • Promotes effective utilization of school and community resources in program development and implementation.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
