JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Position: Director of Student Support Services / FLSA Status: Full Time, Exempt
Title IX Coordinator
Department: Student Support Services Job Status: Full-Time (on campus)
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 / DOE
but can very as needed to perform duties as assigned.

Purpose of Position:
The employee is responsible for successfully operating the Student Support Services (SSS) Department. The SSS Department is responsible for student activities, including orientation, study nights, and graduation. It is staffed with a Learning Lab Specialist, a Retention Specialist, a Recruitment Specialist, and part-time tutors. The Director of SSS/Title IX Coordinator also supports the Title IX program. This is a full-time position and is considered exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Participate in Executive Council meetings as a voting member.
  • Oversee student activities, such as welcome back week, student orientation, study nights, monthly student activities and workshops, graduation, and AIHEC spring student conference.
  • Oversee grants with the American Indian College Fund (AICF) for preview days and college readiness; this includes preparing grant applications and reporting.
  • Oversee recruitment activities; supervise Recruitment Specialist, plan recruitment activities, and communicate with area high school administrators and local businesses.
  • Oversee student retention activities; supervise Retention Specialist, work with students who need help academically, and report on retention progress.
  • Oversee Wakaja Success Center; supervise Learning Lab Specialist.
  • Hire and supervise tutors, including monitoring tutor sessions.
  • Manage College marketing and advertising; develop marketing materials including program brochures, engage with local print and broadcast media, develop relevant social media posts.
  • Facilitate contracts for relevant activities.
  • Maintain and update policy documents, Student Handbook, Strategic Enrollment Management Plan, SSS Department policies and procedures.
  • Serve as Title IX Coordinator, liaison with Title IX consultant, schedule staff trainings, and maintain Title IX policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree Required. Master’s degree Preferred.
  • General knowledge of higher education policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Demonstrated management skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and flexibility to work effectively with administration, faculty, staff, students, and the public.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and be able to maintain an acceptable driving record to be an approved driver.
  • Experience working in tribal organizations or for a Tribal College or University Preferred.
Travel:
Occasional travel is required.
