Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Preschool Assistant Teacher to join our team at our child care center. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, possess strong communication skills, and be enthusiastic about educating young learners in a nurturing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Supporting the teacher: Helping the teacher prepare lesson materials, setting up the classroom, and leading classes
• Providing instruction: Helping children understand numbers, letters, colors, and shapes
• Supervising children: Helping children during playtime, mealtime, and other activities
• Supporting students: Providing one-to-one support to youngsters when required and helping to maintain behavioral standards to minimize any disruption
• Maintaining records: Keeping records of student progress and needs
• Creating a welcoming environment: Providing a welcoming, inclusive learning atmosphere for all students
• Supporting children with special needs: Helping children with special educational needs (SEN), ensuring that they have the best environment in which to learn
• Maintaining a safe environment: Helping keep learning areas tidy and safe
• Supporting personal hygiene: Helping children with their personal hygiene and toileting needs

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or GED is typically required for this position.
• Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential: Preferred but not always required.
• Prior experience working with preschool-aged children, either through childcare, volunteering, or other relevant roles, is beneficial.
• Pass required background checks and screenings, including criminal background checks and child abuse clearances.
• Obtain or be willing to obtain certification in CPR and first aid for the safety and well-being of the children.
