Position at Little Leaves Behavioral Services
The Behavior Specialist is an employee working towards board certification (BCBA) with a demonstrated history of exemplary training skills. works closely with the Center Director (or proxy) on a caseload (1 - 3) as an apprentice to the SBA role. A portion of the time (25%; 10 direct hours) is spent delivering direct services to individuals on the caseload.
Requirements:
  • Enrolled in a Masters Level Program toward pursuit of their BCBA
  • Acceptance into a Masters Level Program toward pursuit of their BCBA
  • Active RBT license
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary Responsibilities (1-3 cases, 15% supervision, 10 direct hours)
  1. Maintains small caseload (1-3 cases) and provides training to technicians.
  • Maintains trainer competency (90%) and minimum 90% fidelity when working with clients.
  • Provides required supervision and protocol modification (15%) with support.
  • Provides direct services to clients (up to 10 direct 1:1 client hours/week) on a predetermined schedule during recommended tools.
  • Maintains high level of quality care for measuring fidelity (90%) and IOA (85%).
  • Updates programs and exemplars for clients.
Documentation and Administrative Tasks:
  1. Provides accurate and complete session notes, treatment plans, and assessments.
  1. Converts in a timely manner- within 24 hrs. at least 90% of the time.
  1. Engages in behavioral and conceptually systematic writing when providing documentation.
Professionalism and Ethics
  1. Prepares all services and documents in a manner that is culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate and sensitive to the family's/school staff's concerns.
  1. Demonstrate clear communication and teamwork skills with SBAs to discuss caseload and client progress.
  1. Engages in self-management practices to maintain neutral facial expressions and limit emotional responding when communicating with caregivers, clients, and coworkers.
Confidentiality, Rights, and Dignity. Preserves the rights of each client and family, while maintaining professional boundaries with clients, families, and/or school staff.
Qualifications:
  • Registered Behavior Technician or equivalent credential required.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in education or a human services field (psychology, social work, etc.).
  • Enrollment in coursework leading to a BACB certification preferred
  • 50% completion of field experience hours and progressing
  • 1 - 2 years of experience providing ABA services to individuals with developmental delays/autism.
  • Ability to train staff and parents, some experience preferred
  • Ability to supervise and coach therapist, some experience preferred
  • Experience with shadowing individuals in a group setting using ABA methodology, preferred
  • Experience with developing lesson plans or coordinating group activities with individuals with disabilities, preferred
  • Ability to follow instructional guidance and to follow ABA programs
  • Ability to interact well with children, families and colleagues
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a therapy team member
  • Ability to work well independently and seek assistance when needed
  • Possess strong attention to detail for data collection and report writing
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to maintain client confidentiality
  • Record of success in previous positions as evidenced by excellent references
  • Technologically adept and enthusiastic
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, push, pull children up to 40 pounds, and able to complete the physical demands of the job (frequent sitting and standing, sitting on, and getting up from the floor, kneeling, bending, and running with children)
  • May be subject to physical aggression with clients, which may include biting, kicking, punching, pinching.
