Camp Date: June to Aug

Overview:
The Summer Bridge Teacher plays a vital role in facilitating academic transition and ensuring continuity of learning for students during the summer break. This position is responsible for designing and implementing curriculum, providing instruction, and fostering a supportive learning environment to help students bridge the gap between academic years.

Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development: Design and develop curriculum materials tailored to meet the specific needs of students transitioning between grade levels or subject areas.
  • Instructional Delivery: Deliver engaging and effective instruction across various subject areas, focusing on reinforcing essential skills and addressing any learning gaps.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, track progress, and provide feedback to students and stakeholders.
  • Differentiated Instruction: Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs of students.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning, manage behavior effectively, and enforce established rules and procedures.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to align curriculum, share best practices, and support student success.
  • Parent and Community Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for improvement. Engage with the community to promote the summer bridge program and foster partnerships.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices, stay current with educational trends, and improve student outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification/license.
  • Previous teaching experience, preferably in a similar role or grade level.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to implement feedback and make adjustments as needed.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.

Additional Information:

  • This is a temporary, seasonal position typically lasting for the duration of the summer break.
  • Hours may vary but typically align with regular school hours or as designated by the program schedule.
  • Training and orientation will be provided prior to the start of the summer program.
  • Background check and clearance is required depending on the employer and program requirements.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $53.50 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
