Little Bob Technologies (LBT) is an early stage startup dedicated to revitalizing underserved communities through community solar farms. Our work ensures that the transition to renewable electricity is just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive while providing economic development to communities. We achieve this by making the opportunity to access and profit from clean energy accessible to all people, regardless of income levels, but especially those in underserved communities.

Job Description

As a part of our pilot project, we are engaging with the community of Salem, NJ to better understand its wants, needs, and the way that clean energy can assist. As a Community Organizer, you will play an essential role by helping our team in Salem conduct resident interviews, organize events where we can connect with community members, and visually documentation of our progress. As a member of the outreach team, you will be providing valuable insights and context to the conversations we have with community members. Your insights and experiences will directly contribute to the evolution of the campaign as we transition through this phase.

As LBT looks to execute our proof-of-concept, we will need dedicated team members who are eager to learn, and hone their skill sets in a number of different areas. This part-time contract role will be located primarily on-site in Salem, NJ, with some work being done virtually or off-site. Regular team meetings will also be held on site, in Salem, on a weekly basis. Some of the tasks the Community Organizer may be asked to support are door-to-door canvassing, event planning and preparation, developing marketing materials, data management, distributing educational materials, and additional tasks as needed, based on the skills of the candidate. You will report to the Salem Outreach Lead

Ideal Candidates

Ideal candidates have a background or a strong interest in community outreach, community organizing, clean energy or other related fields. They should be optimistic, creative, resourceful, and open to new approaches and ideas.

Familiarity with design principles and tools, such as Canva, will be highly favored. Candidates should be willing to support any of the needed tasks, regardless of their perceived ability to complete them. We expect team members to take pride in their work and contribution, and demonstrate that pride through the quality of their outputs. Successful candidates should strive to be great communicators, when conveying information such as scheduling conflicts, sharing professional goals, and when offering and accepting constructive feedback.

Time Commitment

  • 8-12 hrs/wk through through the end of June. Potential for more based on progress and outcomes.

Location:

  • On-Site (Salem, NJ) with some tasks being off-site or virtual

Type

  • Contract Hourly Through June ‘24 ( potential for extension based on results of campaign)

Pay:

  • $20/hr

Potential Tasks:

  • Data Collecting and logging
  • Collect and analyze data from community interviews to determine product-market fit
  • Execute outreach interviews
  • Support Creating Informational & Event Flyers
  • Documenting events and uploading it to social media
  • Provide insights on comms engagement metrics
  • Additional tasks as needed
