Part Time Learning Specialist

If you have a warm and friendly demeanor with a passion for coaching struggling students to improve their reading skills, then Literacy United is for you. Our idea candidate is a dynamic educator, with a Bachelor's, that has experience working with children in a PreK-12 setting.

The Learning Specialist is responsible for working with students on an individual or small group basis based on students' needs. The Learning Specialist must possess a love for working with learners of all types.

Current Openings:

• Tuesdays from 2:00-3:45 at R.W. Goines STEM Academy
• Wednesdays from 3:10-4:00 at St. Rita Catholic School
• Monday & Friday from 3:30-5:30 at St. Peter Catholic School
• Monday & Wednesday Time TBD at Cassata Catholic School

Duties include:

• Must be able to instruct students of all ages, abilities and behaviors
• Must be able to draw information from assessment reports and create effective and individualized lesson plans
• Must be able to make instructional decisions based on the student’s progress, regular running record data and other qualitative assessment data.
• Must be able to implement ongoing reading assessment
• Ability to create lesson plans using data from assessment report
• Prior experience reading educational reports and writing student specific interventions
• Flexible hours depending on when sessions are scheduled; specialists will see the same client at the same scheduled time each week
• Excellent writing skills
• Computer knowledge: email, excel, word
• Interpersonal skills

Education & Experience:

• Teacher Certification
• Bachelor's degree in Education (Required)
• Computer knowledge/skills required.
• Ability to print and read reports from the program.
• Prior experience working with and teaching children and/or adults.

*Must be able to pass a background check. To work on a Catholic School campus, you must be willing to attend a Virtus "safe schools" training prior to beginning work on campus.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
