High School Diploma or equivalent
Strong personal skills which foster good working relationships with other staff members, students and the public
Ability to direct and supervise custodians
Skill and experience with cleaning machines
Strong organizational skills
Aptitude and physical ability to perform assigned duties.
Reports to: Building Principal or Coordinator of Buildings and Grounds Job Goal: To provide students, staff and the community with a safe attractive, clean and efficient learning and working environment. Responsibilities:
Opens the building and makes sure facility is clean and ready for use
Delivers parcels within the building
Turns on any machines needed for the day’s use
Checks halls and bathrooms daily
Ensures that lighting is adequate
Ensures that driveways and sidewalks are safe and passable
Ensures copier paper supply is accessible
Sets up lunchroom, cleans and tears down after lunch
Assists staff with heavy moving
Supervises and trains building custodians
Substitutes for custodians as necessary
Establishes schedules for custodians in conjunction with principal
Sets up for activities held in the building as needed
Is responsible for building on weekends and holidays
Covers after school activities or delegates responsibility to custodian
Maintains and repairs items, systems, and equipment as needed
Sets up cleaning schedules for summer and breaks
Inventories and orders supplies monthly
Coordinates facilities usage with the building principal
Assumes other responsibilities within the scope of the job as determined by the building administrator, or any duties assigned in extraordinary circumstances
Complies with all laws and procedures related to the use of chemicals and hazardous materials
Reports damage to school property or maintenance needs to building principal
Assumes other responsibilities within the scope of the job as determined by the building administrator, or any duties assigned in extraordinary situations
Terms of Employment: 260 day work year at a compensation set by the Board of Education in compliance with the current collective bargaining agreement with the Classified Employees Association of Lisle.
