LISI Aerospace is Hiring a Director of Operations Near Industry, CA

Responsible for the operations of the business and leads the implementation of lean concepts and cost reduction activities (LEAP), manufacturing strategies, and daily operations. Expected to interact with colleagues in all LISI operations in order to foster the exchange of ideas, promote and ensure the implementation of best practices. Basic areas of responsibility include manufacturing, maintenance, inventories, materials, purchasing, planning, logistics and tooling.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversees daily operation to ensure meeting agreed upon Company objectives in respect to sales, on-time delivery, EBIT, CAPEX, CIP/LEAP, Inventory Management, Safety and Quality.

· Develop as needed a vision, strategy, and key objectives inline with the Company’s goals and having the leadership skills to “lead by example” the execution efforts against these key objectives.

· Ensure within reason that assignments, tasks assigned, concerns affecting quality of the product, and established agreed upon objectives are completed on time or in those cases they can not, notifying supervision.

  • Facilitates the optimization of resources to improve cost and delivery.
  • Implements LEAP processes and strategies. Maintains achievement levels and supports training activities.
  • Develops and promotes Health and Safety culture throughout the company/site.
  • Works with all the various departments towards striving for business excellence and sets the example for engagement among the Staff.
  • Establishes internal manufacturing controls, systems, and procedures. Responsible for the utilization of the ERP system within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Serves as a liaison between Engineering, Customer Service, and Operations.
  • Continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, delivery performance, Quality “right the first time”, customer satisfaction, and profitability through team facilitation and the use of outstanding interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills.
  • Implementing training programs focused on the department’s professional developmental needs.
  • Ensures the implementation and compliance of Quality Management Systems within areas of responsibility.
  • Enhances the role production operations plays in the overall achievement of business goals and objectives. Including the development of annual and budget plans for CAPEX, Purchasing, Inventory levels, etc.
  • Participates in developing Strategic Planning and conducting periodic Business Process Analysis (Site A3).
  • Hiring and retention of high performing personnel.
  • Develops and implements HSE initiatives to ensure compliance and achievement of facility and corporate HSE directives. Seeks opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives, targets, and other associated metrics. Reports site results as required.
  • Oversees the accomplishment of safety and environmental action plans by holding direct reports accountable for safety and environmental actions.
  • Evaluates and proposes new process, equipment and technologies that improve manufacturing effectiveness & efficiencies, and safety & environmental policies.
  • Ensures new equipment and technologies are introduced in accordance with HSE procedures.
  • Supports Customer Service Representatives by providing reliable delivery information and participating in customer visits.
  • Directing performance optimization for facility including production systems, safety and Environmental, quality assurance, inventory management, purchasing and distribution.
  • Ensure all people placed under their assigned area of responsibility, or all persons who may be affected by equipment or processes placed under their responsibility are complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local and State government, and LISI Aerospace policies, procedures and plans.
  • All employees are responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.
  • All employees are required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all Company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

GENERAL MANAGEMENT

· Makes decisions based on what is best for the Company, the stockholders, and employees.

· Ensures responses to internal and external customers are complete and timely. Takes appropriate corrective actions to change content or timeliness of response as necessary.

· Leads employees within the established Company rules (Action Plans, Performance Management Systems, Legal requirements, etc…) to maintain a positive working environment building a culture of accountability and productivity.

· Conducts all business activities with the highest ethical standards. Ensures decision making is objective avoiding any kind of conflict of interest or the appearance of conflict of interest.

· Exemplifies Company guiding principles in decision making.

· Embraces and implements the Company Health, Safety and Environmental culture and practices.

· Works collaboratively with internal and external customers.

· Participates and ensures implementation of Continuous Improvement culture and applies Six Sigma and Lean concepts to product development and departmental management (LEAP).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsible for organization and supervision of; manufacturing, maintenance, shipping, inventories, logistics, facilities maintenance and ensuring environmental compliance. Has the special authority given by the Vice President and General Manager to use his authority in exercising “veto power” over any activity which is unacceptable to him/her from an operational standpoint and which responsible personnel will not stop or alter on the basis of recommendation or request. In these instances, no one other than the Vice President and General Manager can override the decision of the Director of Operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience

· Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university required in related field with a minimum of 10 years directly related work experience.

· Proven ability to lead effectively in a diverse environment.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification a plus.

· Operations Management expertise in a related field.

· Knowledge of manufacturing methods, Operation management, process improvement, and industrialization.

· Experience managing projects / action plans.

· Previous experience managing diverse teams (manufacturing, engineering, and administrative).

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Computer Skills

Requires knowledge and hands on experience of Manufacturing software; Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; ERP software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply advanced mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Six-Sigma, correlation techniques and sampling theory.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define issues and root cause of problems, collect/analyze data, establish facts, and validate conclusions. Requires the ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, licenses, registrations

Evidence of “USperson” is required under ITAR.

The responsibilities of the position include promoting compliance with Company and governmental safety, environmental and hazardous materials regulations and procedures among all employees. The employee will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment in specified areas.

- Implementing preventive actions to reduce the environmental footprint and control health and safety risks
- Participate, upon request, in analyses (of risks, incidents) and HSE working groups related to his/her professional scope

- Ensure compliance with procedures, instructions, HSE guidelines and golden rules during site visits

- Ensure the acquisition and maintenance of HSE skills of its employees in relation to the tasks performed
- Ensure that the equipment under his/her responsibility is in good condition and operates safely. If this is not the case, he/she will ensure that protective measures are taken and/or that the equipment is consigned
- Identify and deal with HSE risk situations during the appropriate PSM
- Relay and lead the HSE communication in his teams
- Inform his/her hierarchy in case of an emergency situation
- Participate in the crisis unit of one of his sites if necessary
- Ensure that the necessary resources are available to guarantee the health and safety of the people in the BG
- Ensure that the necessary resources are made available to guarantee the limitation of the environmental impacts of its BG
- Monitor the actions required to achieve the HSE objectives in the BG
- Be accountable to the general management of his/her division for the achievement of the HSE results of his/her BG

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $160,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year
