Lipscomb University is Hiring an Academy Faculty - SEED & Lower School, Library Media Specialist (PK2-5th Grade) Near Nashville, TN

Description:

The candidate will focus on the holistic development of young children, fostering a lifelong love of reading and learning, to promote literacy skills that are foundational to academic success. Ideal candidates will collaborate closely with teachers (specifically maker space and general ed) to align curriculum goals with library resources and provide engaging lessons that integrate technology and literacy.

Responsibilities:

PreK 2 - 2nd Grade 

Recommend books that align with homeroom curriculum themes and units.

Work with homeroom teachers to understand their pacing and standards 

Create a reading-centric environment in the library to engage PreK4-1st grade students and nurture a love for reading

Teach students research methodologies using library books and manuals for task completion

2nd - 5th 

Teach keyboarding skills and login procedures to students.

Educate students on distinguishing between website research and Google searches

Foster digital citizenship and responsibility among students

Promote smart device usage and research strategies tailored to various age groups

Collaborate with homeroom teachers on their technology needs may include but are not limited to: Canva, Google Slides, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Assignment Tracking

Collaborate with Makerspace educators to implement ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) standards into Media lessons

Planning/Other

Collaborate with homeroom teachers to identify and meet curriculum needs through library resources and technology.

Run a book fair two times per year 

Collaborate with school parents to organize volunteers for the book fair

Organize a yearly READ me week

Create engaging content to support all stakeholders with engagement in literacy such as but not limited to: monthly read-aloud videos, podcasts, and other creative avenues to encourage excitement around literacy 

Coordinate and plan March Madness Tournament of Books 

Other duties as assigned by the administration
