Lionheart Life Center is Hiring a Special education teacher Near Alpharetta, GA

Overview : The Lionheart School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher Assistant to join our team in implementing a developmental model.

As a key member of our education team, you will work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment for students with diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities : Classroom Support :

Classroom Support :

  • Assist the special education teacher in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum tailored to individual students' needs.
  • Implement daily assignments, weekly lesson plans, and weekly notes for the classroom which are tailored to meet the goals of student IEPs.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students during instructional activities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and participation.

Individualized Learning Plans :

  • Collaborate with the special education teacher to implement and monitor Individualized Goal plans for students.
  • Modify and adapt instructional materials as needed to meet the unique learning styles and abilities of each student.
  • Track and document student progress towards their individual goals.

Communication and Collaboration :

  • Communicate regularly with the special education teacher, other school staff, and parents to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
  • Participate in team meetings, and professional development sessions, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall learning environment.

Assessment and Data Collection :

  • Assist in the administration and scoring of assessments to gauge student progress and inform instructional decisions.
  • Collect and maintain accurate records of student data, including academic and behavioral information.

Professional Development :

  • Stay informed about best practices in special education and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Actively seek to enhance skills and knowledge related to the developmental model and its application in the education of our neurodiverse population.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree, with some college coursework in education or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with diverse learning needs, preferably in a special education setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with students with neurodiverse profiles.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of educators and support staff.
